From the report: "Imagine if you had the opportunity to invest in a small cap growth company that owned every 1-800 number back when toll free numbers appeared in 1967. Then, imagine your small cap company earned a fee every time a 1-800 number was dialed. You’d have made a fortune on that investment. Entire companies have been built around toll free numbers- 1-800 Flowers is one example. Today’s small cap growth company, Single Touch Systems, has a toll booth for the next generation of 800

St. Jude Achieves New Milestone – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (July 22nd, 2009) Writes:

St. Jude Medical, Inc. (STJ) set a new milestone by introducing pacemaker devices in the U.S. with automatic test results and complete diagnostics facilities that can be accessed remotely via wireless communication. Yesterday, the company received the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for these pacemakers - Accent RF and Anthem RF CRT.

In addition, St. Jude has received both the FDA and European CE Mark approval for the technology used in these pacemakers, version 4.0 of the Merlin.net Patient Care Network (PCN).

Accent and Anthem pacemakers use Radio Frequency (RF) telemetry that enables secure and smooth flow of data between the pacemaker and the clinician thereby enhancing the patient care. These devices use Merlin.net PCN technology that captures and records information about the performance of the pacemaker and the patient heart rhythm and subsequently send the data to a hospital’s Electronic Health Records system.

The new approval will add to

Nokia, Intel Share Smart Phone Pie – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (June 25th, 2009) Writes:

Intel (INTC) and Nokia (NOK) have joined hands to tap the smart phone and MID market. Nokia will use the Atom processor in its smart phones and mobile Internet devices going forward, even as Intel licenses Nokia's 3G HSPA modem technology.

The two companies have used open source software from Linux to develop their respective mobile platforms. The strategic relationship is expected to enable Intel's Moblin (currently in beta stage) and Nokia's Maemo to incorporate several open source applications, such as oFono, ConnMan, Mozilla, X.Org, BlueZ, D-BUS, Tracker, GStreamer and PulseAudio through some co-coordinated effort. The association will also enhance device functionality for both in terms of Internet connectivity, wireless communication, superior graphics and comprehensive multimedia capabilities.

Nokia currently holds about 40% share of the mobile phone market and a 34% market share in smart phones. The partnership should, therefore, be of great strategic

World Bank Calls China: A “Ray of Hope”

Tony Sagami (April 14th, 2009) Writes:
The Dow has been on a mini-roll. Therefore, most investors are thrilled to see battered stock portfolios recover even a smidgen of their massive losses. The problem is that these investors aren’t paying attention to what’s happening elsewhere around the globe. And they may be missing out on the opportunity of the decade! That’s because the morsels of good economic news coming out of the U.S. are completely overshadowing what’s happening in Asia. China: A Bright Spot in the Region And the Global Economy Just last week, a new report from the World Bank painted a very pretty picture about the economies of China, the world’s third-biggest economy, and its Asian neighbors …...

Today’s Indispensable Companies

QualityStocks (March 2nd, 2009) Writes:

What comes to mind when you think of the most important companies? Maybe you think of companies that have the most sales or employees. Or maybe you think of companies that have Washington connections, or big name CEOs. It’s natural to think of importance defined in terms of big numbers and wide recognition.

But there’s another way to define importance, a very personal way. It’s based upon the number of lives that are saved each year when disasters strike, and the relative handful of companies that have dedicated themselves to making that number bigger by creating products that deal with disasters. It’s personal because of you. If your life is the one that’s saved, or the life of someone you care about, then how important is that company to you?

And before you start mentally calculating the odds of getting killed in a hurricane or earthquake, remember this: Every year fire

Phoenix Technologies Limited (PTEC) Business Set to Soar

QualityStocks (August 27th, 2008) Writes:

The base of this company in Milpitas, CA must have something to do with its pioneering spirit. The stock is listed in the Software & Programming Industry, but the nature of the business has a unique touch. Not all stock investors are computer wizards, but you do not have to be one to appreciate the brilliance of the strategy at work here.

Technical excellence is not unusual in any part of the Technology Sector. However, many stocks suffer because management leaders get lost in technicalities. Some corporations in the software business have been started by engineers and academicians with little empathy for average consumers. This stock is special because it focuses new program development on what people need.

Security, booting times, battery capacities, operating-system differences, wireless communication, and multiple-users are the key issues that limit today’s computers. Each of us faces these limitations every day. The incredible business value of this stock
