PMI Loss Narrower than EstimatesThe PMI Group, Inc. (PMI) reported its 1Q09 financial results today before market open, with a conference call held this afternoon. Net loss from continuing operations for the reported quarter was $115.3 million or $1.41 per diluted share, compared to a net loss from continuing operations of $305.9 million or $3.77 per diluted share in the prior-year quarter.Its 1Q09 loss was primarily driven by continued high losses and loss adjustment expenses (LAE) in the U.S. Mortgage Insurance Operations, and a decrease in premiums earned.
