Statoil Slips, but Volumes up – Analyst Blog

Statoil ASA (STO) reported its third quarter results of 38 cents per share, compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 40 cents and in line with the year-earlier quarter earnings. Revenue for the quarter was NOK 123.1 billion ($20.1 billion), down 29% year over year.  Though the company’s results were hurt by lower commodity prices, Statoil continues to maintain a high activity level both in Norway and internationally. Equity and entitlement productions were up 8% and 10% year over year, respectively, with the start-up of operations on several new oil and gas fields such as Tyrihans in the Norwegian Sea, Tune Sor in the North Sea and Thunder Hawk in the Gulf of Mexico.  Total oil and gas entitlement production during the quarter averaged 1.71 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMBOE/d), 62% of which was oil and 38% natural gas, compared to 1.55 MMBOE/d ...

SAP Reports Strong Earnings – Analyst Blog

SAP AG (SAP) reported total revenue of €2.58 billion, a decline of 10% year over year, for the second quarter of 2009. US GAAP basic earnings per share from continuing operations rose 6% to 36 pence. Software revenue fell 40% year over year due to difficult operating environment worldwide.

SAP closed major contracts in several key regions during the period, including Federal Interior Ministry of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, Group Danone, Shoosmiths and Statoil ASA in EMEA, Baker Hughes, Boston University and Confederação SICREDI in the Americas and China Export & Credit Insurance Co., Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Ministry of Finance, Singapore and Tata Teleservices Ltd in Asia Pacific Japan.

Quarterly operating income was €431 million, up 5% year over year, with a margin of 25.1%, an increase of 4.4 percentage points.

One of the libraries of Vyborg (Leningrad oblast of Russia) has received a letter with an offer to place in its collection for open access the results of the environmental impact study for the overland portion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. In and of itself, the offer is not unusual: two years ago, this same company had already placed environmental impact study materials in the libraries of Vyborg. What was unusual this time around, however, was that the letter was accompanied by an offer to do this for money. In so doing, it was proposed that the sum for spreading this information be named by the libraries of the region themselves.
