Nokia Boosts Social-Networking – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (September 30th, 2009) Writes:
Nokia Corp. (NOK) has acquired Dopplr Oy, a privately held social-network service provider for mobile devices. Dopplr offers services to travelers. This acquisition will provide technical know-how to Nokia in creating internet-based communities and showing their journeys, experiences and tastes collectively on the web. Nokia will integrate Dopplr’s services with its own Ovi application suite especially with its NAVTEQ system that provides comprehensive digital map information to international jetsetter professionals. The financial term of this acquisition is however still undisclosed.  Nokia is trying hard to solidify social-networking offerings of its mobile phones. Earlier this month, the company announced a partnership with social-networking giant Facebook to innovate a next-generation personal and location-based internet application. Nokia expanded its Ovi ecosystem for increasing number of third party open partnerships. In last August, the company entered into an agreement with its former arch rival Microsoft Corp. Nokia Moves to Linux – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (August 28th, 2009) Writes:
Yesterday, Nokia Corp. (NOK) introduced its first high-end 3G smart-phone N900 based on Linux open source software. This converged mobile device provides a personal computer-like experience to users and will run on the Linux-based Maeme 5 software.

This 3G handset will have a high-resolution WVGA touch screen and incorporate a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It will be available in select markets from October for 500 Euros.

Traditionally, all Nokia handsets have used the Symbian operating system, which is now fully controlled by Nokia. However, the Symbian system has lost charm for mobile phone users and become outdated compared to open source operating systems like Linux, Google Inc.’s (GOOG) Android and the licensed system of Microsoft Corp.’s (MSFT) Windows Mobile. A wireless handset based on the Maeme 5 operating system will allow users to run more than a dozen application windows at the same time.

N900 will have multitasking feature

NewCardio, Inc. (NWCI.OB) – Revolutionizing the Electrocardiograph

QualityStocks (October 1st, 2008) Writes:

NewCardio, Inc., through its patent-pending, innovative technology, is poised to transform the landscape of electrocardiography (ECG). The company has developed, and is currently working to commercialize, a three-dimensional ECG platform that stands to seriously improve upon traditional methods.

In addition to a dramatic increase in diagnostic accuracy, the NewCardio 3D ECG works faster, and with greater cost-effectiveness than the standard 12 lead ECG. NewCardio’s advanced systems aid not only in the diagnosis of heart disorders, but also in clinical pharmaceutical trials with respect to the evaluation of a drug’s potential cardiac toxicity. This should allow the company to become a force to be reckoned with, operating within a billion-dollar market sector. Validation studies have already commenced at Harvard University Medical School, and have produced some positive results.

While the trials continue, NewCardio’s revenue mainly comes from its lead product - the QTinno™ software suite. This platform provides automated analysis

Can Android Find a Place in the Crowded Smart Phones Market?

The Simplified Investor (September 24th, 2008) Writes:

On Tuesday, Deutsche Telekom AG unveiled the first smart phone that will use Google’s new Android operating system.  The device is called the G1, sold by Deutsche Telekom’s subsidiary T-Mobile, and it looks a lot like the iPhone and other competing smart phones (well, except for the Google logo on the back).  But its the software, not the hardware, that T-Mobile and Google hope will set this new product apart. It will need to be special to crack the dominance of RIMM’s Blackberry and Apple’s iPhone in the smart phone market.  Those two companies controlled a combined 65% of the market in 2008, ahead of a long list of competitors that also includes PALM, Motorola, LG, and Samsung.

But smart phone users are savvy folks, and they’re looking for devices that will make life more efficient, and more enjoyable.  That’s where the cache of Google’s
