Concur Matches Estimates – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (November 19th, 2009) Writes:
Concur Technologies Inc (CNQR) reported 2009 fourth quarter earnings per share from continuing operations of 14 cents, matching the Zacks Consensus Estimate.  Concur reported total revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 of $64.8 million, driven by subscription revenue. Total revenue for the quarter was also up 13% from the year-ago quarter. Total subscription revenue was $62.9 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009, up 13% compared to the year-ago quarter, and up 3% sequentially.  Bookings were exceptionally strong as the company signed more business in the fourth quarter than in any of the quarter in the company's history. Looking ahead, it expects the demand environment to remain solid throughout the fiscal year.  The long-term growth rate for both revenue and earnings is driven by new customer additions and cost selling of new services. The company signs more new business in the most ...

Hewlett-Packard to Acquire 3Com – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (November 12th, 2009) Writes:
Hewlett Packard Company (HPQ) is planning to take over networking gear maker 3Com Corporation (COMS). The acquisition, valued at $2.7 billion, enables HP to challenge networking leader Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) on its own turf. HP’s current networking products, sold under the ProCurve brand, generate around $1 billion in annual sales (less than 1% of the company’s total revenue). The product line lacks competitive data center switches, which makes it hard to take market share from well-entrenched Cisco. 3Com's expertise is in networking products for data centers, which supports HP's ProCurve networking equipment. Although the company has seen better times, it has been beefing up its portfolio by utilizing its design capabilities in low-cost China. The company is, therefore, in a position to compete aggressively on price. 3Com’s challenges include its poor brand value in American and European markets and its weak position in ...

NCR Grabs Netkey – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (November 9th, 2009) Writes:

A recent press release from NCR Corp. (NCR) confirms that it has purchased the assets of a market-leading provider of kiosk and digital signage software applications, Netkey, Inc. for an undisclosed amount. We believe that after acquisition NCR is expected to integrate Netkey’s software with its own technologies to deliver world class enterprise solutions, including both hardware and software solutions to its clients.

This acquisition is expected to provide NCR with a good digital signage application platform, which is built on the same platform as Netkey’s kiosk applications, thereby helping the deployment and support of NCR’s solutions.

It will also enable NCR to help customers across multiple industries with kiosk and digital signage solutions that deliver more effective transactions, promotions and information which is the main reason for the merger. The more customer-friendly solutions are expected to attract new customers.

This should be a positive in the current environment, especially considering the

Omnicell Eclipses Zacks Estimate – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (October 23rd, 2009) Writes:
Omnicell Inc. (OMCL) reported third quarter 2009 earnings per share of 10 cents yesterday, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 2 cents. However, earnings per share came below the year-ago figure of 18 cents.  Total revenues for the reported quarter were $54.0 million, declining 16.1% year over year. The decline can be attributed to lower demand for the company’s products due to the current economic turbulence. Omnicell is a leading provider of systems and software solutions that develops end-to-end automation solutions for the medication-use process.  Omnicell’s products are primarily purchased by hospitals and nursing homes which are presently grappling with the current economic scenario of weak credit markets, rising expenses, higher unemployment, and erosion of wealth. This has ultimately resulted in a decline in net sales.  Omnicell reported a contraction in margins due to lower sales and higher expenses. Gross margin declined 40 basis points ...

Earnings Preview for Lawson – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (September 30th, 2009) Writes:
Lawson Software, Inc. (LWSN) is expected to report fiscal first quarter results on Sep 30, 2009.

Based in Minnesota, Lawson is a leading provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software solutions and professional services to mid-market enterprises in the health care, retail, public and professional service industries.

LWSN expects revenues between $160 million and $165 million in the quarter, down 14% to 16% year over year, as the company expects recessionary conditions to moderate in late 2009 or early 2010. The unfavorable movement in foreign exchange rates is expected to account for half of this decline.

EPS is forecasted around 5 cents. Margins are expected to show improvement in fiscal 2010 due to cost-cutting measures undertaken by management.

The company earlier reported in line results for the fiscal fourth quarter. Business for Lawson continues to be adversely affected by the deteriorating global economy as most customers have tightened their budgets. The slowdown
