Enterprise Surpasses Estimates – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (July 27th, 2009) Writes:
Enterprise Products Partners, L.P. (EPD), a leading master limited partnership (MLP), reported its second quarter results before today's market opened.

Recurring earnings per limited partners unit was $0.43, beating both our estimates and consensus estimates of $0.41 per limited partners unit.

The quarter's results were negatively impacted by approximately $0.11 per unit for non-cash items. Without accounting for these items, earnings were $0.32 per unit, compared to $0.52 per unit in the year-earlier period.

The year-over-year negative comparison reflects lower commodity prices. This was more than offset by increased natural gas liquids (NGL), crude oil and petrochemical transportation volumes, as well as a rise in natural gas transportation volumes.

Importantly, Enterprise increased its quarterly distribution by 5.8% year-over-year to the annualized run rate of $2.18 per unit. This was the 20th consecutive quarterly distribution increase. The partnership generated distributable cash flow (DCF) of $328 million in the quarter, providing 1.1x distribution coverage.

Contrarian Profits (November 20th, 2008) Writes:

Last month, I spent some time in San Juan, Puerto Rico. One day, we visited Old San Juan, the oldest settlement within the territory of the United States, with a history that begins in 1508. We also visited the old fort known officially as El Castillo San Felipe del Morro, or simply El Morro.

The fort must have sent shivers up the spines of all those who hoped to take it. The walls of El Morro are 18 feet thick and 145 feet high. Built on a headland, the Spanish Empire controlled the flow of goods in and out of the New World from here. El Morro has been tested many times. Even today, you can walk in the oldest tower in the fort, built in 1539, and see shell fragments in the ceiling that date to the 1898 bombardment of San Juan by the U.S. Navy during the Spanish-American War.
