Rite Aid Corporation (RAD) reported sales for the month of July 2009 (the four weeks ended July 25th). Same-store sales decreased 0.6% due to front-end same-store sales declining 4.7%, while pharmacy same-store sales increased 1.4% despite a significant 436 basis point negative impact from new generic introductions.  The July report mimics the June report when same-store sales decreased 0.6% as front-end same-store sales declined 4.3% and while pharmacy same-store sales increased 1.4%. July same-store sales of the recently acquired Brooks Eckerd stores sales declined 2.0% over the prior-year period, with front-end same-store sales declining 5.0% and pharmacy same-store sales decreasing 1.0%. Excluding the Brooks Eckerd stores, July same-store sales would have been flat year-over-year with front-end same-store sales decreasing 4.6% and pharmacy same-store sales increasing 2.7%. Again, the July report mimicked the June report when same-store sales were flat and front-end same store sales decreased 4.4%....
