STB hopes to attract more high net worth individuals to Singapore

Raymond Teo (October 21st, 2009) Writes:
STB hopes to attract more high net worth individuals to Singapore SINGAPORE: The tourism stakes are high and Singapore is trying to woo more visitors. It is betting on the two integrated resorts due to open next year, and also spinning for a more diverse crowd. The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said that it is on track to meeting its target of attracting 9 to 9.5 million visitors to the city this year. Despite the economic downturn, 6.2 million tourists visited Singapore in the first 8 months of this year. STB’s strategy ahead is to woo more high net worth individuals, or those with at least a million US dollars to invest. “Singapore is limited by its size and capacity and therefore, in that case, we need to make sure that we attract the right kind of audience,” said Chew Tiong Heng, director, Destination Marketing, Singapore Tourism Board. “While we will not neglect people with ...

australia property market

Raymond Teo (October 21st, 2009) Writes:
A Auction is the best way for buyers to know they are purchasing a property for its true market value. However, the auction process itself can be a little intimidating for some buyers, so it’s advised to go into the auction with a firm idea of what you are willing to pay for the property in question and seek the advice of a professional. B Buyers Agents work on your behalf, as a buyer, to find you the perfect property and negotiate to achieve the perfect price. Relationships with real estate agents ensure that your buyer’s agent has access to properties that are fresh on the market and sometimes have not even been advertised yet. C Conveyancing is the process by which real property is legally transferred from one person to another. It involves gathering information concerning a property and preparing the documents for the transference of the property. Remember to ask your solicitor ...

australia stock market news

Raymond Teo (October 5th, 2009) Writes:
At its meeting today, the Board decided to raise the cash rate by 25 basis points to 3.25 per cent, effective 7 October 2009. The global economy is resuming growth. With economic policy settings likely to remain expansionary for some time, the recovery will likely continue during 2010 and forecasts are being revised higher. The expansion is generally expected to be modest in the major countries, due to the continuing legacy of the financial crisis. Prospects for Australia’s Asian trading partners appear to be noticeably better. Growth in China has been very strong, which is having a significant impact on other economies in the region and on commodity markets. For Australia’s trading partner group, growth in 2010 is likely to be close to trend. Sentiment in global financial markets has continued to improve. Nonetheless, the state of balance sheets in some major countries remains a potential constraint on their expansion. Economic conditions in Australia have been ...

singapore stock market

Raymond Teo (September 25th, 2009) Writes:
singapore stock market ,singapore stock market news ,SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)–The Singapore dollar was lower in late Asian trade Friday on the back of overnight greenback strength and tepid showing from regional bourses. The U.S. dollar traded in a relatively narrow range, moving between a high of S$1.4211 and a low of S$1.4157. A trader with a foreign bank said that comments by U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner overnight highlighting the importance of a strong U.S. dollar will lend some support to the greenback. Still, OCBC said it sees a potential for risk appetite to resume at the expense of the greenback beyond the short term. “Going ahead, the phasing out of the dollar liquidity programs by the central banks indicate official comfort with normalizing liquidity conditions in the wholesale market but do not indicate a move to a more hawkish stance across the board,” OCBC said in a report. While stronger-than expected August manufacturing output ...

Singapore wealth fund halves Citi stake, makes $1.6 bln

Raymond Teo (September 22nd, 2009) Writes:
GIC held over 9 pct of Citigroup prior to stake sale * Now has below 5 pct; will stay on as “portfolio investor” * GIC says realised $1.6 bln profit from sale * Citigroup shares up in premarket trade By Kevin Lim and Saeed Azhar SINGAPORE, Sept 22 - Singapore wealth fund GIC has halved its stake in Citigroup <C.N>, cashing in on a market rally for a profit of $1.6 billion, but signalling investor concerns over the outlook for global banks. The sale follows other divestments by sovereign funds from Western banks they helped rescue at the start of the financial crisis to use the money closer to home in emerging markets and in other growth sectors such as resources. In June, Abu Dhabi exited Barclays Plc <BARC.L> with a gain of about 1.5 billion pounds , though Temasek [TEM.UL], another Singapore wealth fund, lost an estimated $4 billion from an early exit from Bank of ...

With over 40,000 recipes, most submitted by users, with ratings and discussions, AllRecipes is a must stop for anyone searching for a recipe. When I’m trying to cook something new, I generally start at AllRecipes since it almost always has multiple versions of whatever it is I am planning to make.

Review of RED CLIFF

Raymond Teo (July 31st, 2009) Writes:

It’s big, entertaining, and the only game in town. Red Cliff is  Chinese summer blockbuster of choice, whether you like it or not - after all, there really isn’t much else in Chinese cinemas this summer. John Woo’s adaptation of the classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms - which is available in novel, TV drama, video game, and unlicensed collectible variations - isn’t as compelling as it is merely large. Woo slants the source material towards his pet themes, front-loads the production with big stars and big names, and assembles a spectacle that’s respectable, involving, and absolutely worth a look. What the film doesn’t provide is the compelling emotion that has punctuated many a Woo production, and the film’s climax doesn’t serve up the “wow” factor that one expects of a film of this scale. But any disappointment could

Zhao Wei reported to be marrying Singaporean businessman

Raymond Teo (July 31st, 2009) Writes:

According to media reports from China, an insider revealed that Chinese actress Zhao Wei registered her marriage in Singapore a few days ago with a Singaporean businessman, and will hold her wedding dinner in October this year. Zhao Wei’s manager denied the reports and pointed out that Zhao is currently held up with work and will not be getting married in the near future.

The 33-year-old actress has been plagued with rumours ever since her debut in the entertainment industry. She was once speculated to have been involved with actors Chen Kun and Huang Xiao Ming. Earlier this month, Zhao openly declared her intentions to temporarily leave the entertainment circle to concentrate on her studies after the completion of the film Hua Mulan’s promotional events.

However, insiders discovered and exposed Zhao’s original intentions for a temporary departure for her own marriage plans. She is said to be registered to a Singaporean

Powerball

Raymond Teo (July 31st, 2009) Writes:

$40 million NSW Powerball winner found, email alerts to record prize win

Most people would treat an unsolicited lottery email with scepticism, which is exactly what a Sydney woman did when she received an email from NSW Lotteries this morning.

揑 saw there was an email to contact NSW Lotteries but I didn抰 think I could be that lucky. I went on the internet to check my numbers and found out that I had won $40 million,?she said.

The scepticism came despite the fact that she and her husband had remarked only that morning on a radio bulletin that NSW Lotteries was looking for a Western Sydney winner.

揑 said to my husband, 慦e抮e not in Western Sydney,?but he said, 慪es we are.?

揟hen I said 慣here is no way we would have won $40 million,?and he said 慦hy not? Our ticket has got just as much chance as anyone else抯.挃

The couple finally made phone
