RadioShack Delivers in Q3 – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (October 26th, 2009) Writes:
RadioShack Corp. (RSH) announced its third quarter results today. Net revenues came in at $990 million, down 3.1% year over year. However, this was better than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $981 million. The year-over-year reduction in sales is primarily due to a 2.9% decline in comparable same-store sales for company-operated stores and kiosks in the reported quarter compared to the prior-year quarter.   Segment wise, revenues from company-operated store declined 3.5% year over year, Kiosks sales declined 17.8% year over year, whereas revenues from Other services increased 13.5% year over year. Acquisition of RadiosShack de Mexico in December 2008 has significantly contributed to the Other services segment. Product category wise, sales declines in digital-to-analog converter boxes, laptop computers, batteries, wireless accessories, and GPS products.  On the other hand, the company generated increased revenues from Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) postpaid wireless business, increased sales of prepaid wireless handsets ...

Biggest S&P Est Increases – Analyst Blog

Dirk Van Dijk (August 11th, 2009) Writes:
When you invest in a stock, one of the best things you can see is analysts raising their expectations about what the company is going to earn for the current fiscal year. There are several ways of measuring this, but the following is a list of the companies with the biggest increases in their consensus earnings expectations for this year over the last month.

To make the list, a company had to have a current mean (average) estimate of over 50 cents, be a member of the S&P 500 and have at least three estimates for this year. The 50-cent restriction was put in to prevent small dollar changes that are huge percentage moves from dominating the list (going from a penny expected to a nickel). Having 3 or more estimates also helps insure it was not a fluke. The S&P 500 restriction was put in to make sure we

RadioShack Lags Expectations – Zacks Tale of the Tape

Zacks Market Commentaries (February 24th, 2009) Writes:

RadioShack Corp. (RSH) shares fell sharply on Tuesday after the third-largest U.S. electronics chain reported a 39% decline in quarterly profit as cash-strapped consumers shied away from spending on GPS navigation devices and expensive cameras.

In the latest fourth quarter, the Fort Worth, Texas-based company earned $62 million, or 50 cents a share, compared with the consensus forecast of 74 cents. Despite holiday markdowns, quarterly revenue declined 7.7% to $1.26 billion, while same-store sales fell 9.2% as unemployment rose and home values plunged.

RadioShack shares were trading down more than 20% to $8.59 at noon. Earlier in the session, they dropped the most in four months to $8.08 on the New York Stock Exchange.
