Genworth Financial Inc. (GNW) second-quarter loss narrowed as the company reported sharply smaller investment losses. GNW shares fell 6.5% at $6.65 in after-hours trading as earnings excluding investment impacts were far below analysts’ expectations, giving back the stock’s regular session gains.

First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) second-quarter profit more than doubled on higher revenue and margins. First Solar shares 4.8% to $181.95 in after-hours trading as results topped analysts’ estimates. Evergreen added 7.5% to $2.20.

(NVTL) Novatel Wireless shares rose 13% to $10.50 after the company reported second-quarter revenue above Wall Street expectations.
