BXP Chief Sells a Million Shares – Analyst Blog

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Chairman Mort Zuckerman of Boston Properties, Inc. (BXP), a leading real estate investment trust (REIT), intends to sell 9% of his total stake in the company. The deal would involve a sale of about 1 million shares of the company and is likely to generate $50 million for Zuckerman. The proceeds would be utilized to purchase printing presses for his New York daily, The Daily News. The timing of the sale has raised speculation among investors about the profitability of Boston Properties. Most of the investors view the sale as a move by the Chairman to have a better investment profile, raising fears that probably the newspaper was a better investment than the REIT.
