OMAB Passenger Traffic Down 12.4% – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (November 10th, 2009) Writes:
Last week, Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte S.A. de C.V. (OMAB) announced a decrease of 12.4% in total passenger traffic for October, compared to the year-ago period.   Domestic passenger traffic decreased 11.6%, while international passenger traffic decreased 17% compared to October 2008.   The decline in domestic passenger traffic resulted mainly from the suspension of Aviacsa (suspended since July 6, 2009), the departure from the markets of Alma and Aladia, and a reduction in traffic on Interjet and Magnicharter. The Monterrey, Acapulco, and Ciudad Juarez airports also had the largest traffic reductions.   International traffic decreased principally because of the cancellation of international routes by Continental, Grupo Aeromexico, and Alaska Airlines, in addition to the suspension of Aviacsa. The Monterrey, Mazatlan, Acapulco, and San Luis Potosi airports were the most affected.   Airlines all over the world are facing difficulties, primarily due to the collapse of the ...

Grupo Aeroportuario Posts Positive – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (October 26th, 2009) Writes:
Earlier this week, Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMAB) reported encouraging results for the third quarter of 2009.  With the occurrence of swine flu in the Mexico City Airport Terminal 2 Hotel during the quarter, the company took a decisive step in the development of additional sources of non-aeronautical revenues. Total revenues were higher than the three previous quarters, in part as a result of initiatives to preserve aeronautical revenues.  In addition, Grupo Aeroportuario continued to implement cost control measures. These actions contributed to offsetting most of the impact of lower traffic volumes on revenues and to an increase in adjusted EBITDA of 2.6% as compared to the third quarter of 2008, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 54.0%.  Passenger traffic decreased 15.4% to 3.0 million. Domestic traffic decreased 13.8% and international traffic decreased 25.0%. The suspension of Aviacsa operations since Jul 6, 2009, was ...

AMB Continues Mexico Leasing – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (October 14th, 2009) Writes:
AMB Property Corp. (AMB), a leading real estate investment trust (REIT), has recently signed leasing agreements for approximately 271,000 square feet in Mexico, signifying the probable redemption of investor confidence across the country. About 118,000 square feet were leased in Monterrey in northeast Mexico by Arauco Distribucion Mexico, the Mexican subsidiary of Arauco – a wood pulp and forestry enterprise in Chile. As part of its expansion strategy in the Latin American markets, Arauco also leased 120,000 square feet of space in Guadalajara in the western Pacific area of Mexico. Besides the Arauco leases, AMB had leased 33,000 square feet in Monterrey to a premier logistics company in the country. With the lease, AMB has strengthened its competitive position in the market. In addition, the company has strategically partnered with a single partner in multiple locations in order to increase its flexibility and enhance operational efficiency....

Grupo Aeroportuario Sees Fewer Passengers – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (September 15th, 2009) Writes:
Early last week, Mexican airport operator, Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V. (OMAB), reported terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports during August 2009.  Total passenger traffic decreased 12.9% year over year in the month. Domestic traffic decreased 11.0%, and international traffic decreased 24.1%. However, total passenger traffic volumes decreased at a slower rate than during any prior month of the year. This effect is principally the result of the improvement in domestic traffic.  The performance of airlines such as VivaAerobus, Grupo Aeromexico, Aeromar, and Grupo Mexicana benefited domestic traffic. Three domestic routes were opened: Mexicana Link opened the Acapulco-Guadalajara and Guadalajara-Mazatlan-San Jose del Cabo routes on August 1, and Aeromexico Connect opened the Zacatecas-Mexico City route on August 11.  The Culiacan, Durango, and Mazatlan airports reported traffic growth of 15.7%, 23.2%, and 2.6% respectively. However, the overall volume of domestic traffic was ...
