Makings Of An Options Trading System Part 2

Investment Education Staff (October 3rd, 2009) Writes:

by Maclin Vestor

The seller receives the premium, but the owner of the call receives the shares at the strike price. There are various strategies involving this covered call strategy.

Some people prefer to have the covered call eventually pay back the stock owner his investment, so that he or she can reinvest that money, and upon receiving the investment back, the person will let the stock run. If this is the strategy, ideally you want to sell covered calls as the stock falls, as it stays flat, and then you want to have your cash back and let the stock run when it is on its way up again. This can allow you to buy an out of favor …

The Three Phases of a Trader’s Education: Psychology, Money Management, Method

Jim Musselwhite (July 23rd, 2009) Writes:

By Jeffrey Kennedy

The following is an excerpt from Jeffrey Kennedy’s Trader’s Classroom Collection. Now through August 10, Elliott Wave International is offering a special 45-page Best Of Trader’s Classroom eBook, free.

———–

Aspiring traders typically go through three phases in this order:

Methodology. The first phase is that all-too-familiar quest for the Holy Grail – a trading system that never fails. After spending thousands of dollars on books, seminars and trading systems, the aspiring trader eventually realizes that no such system exists.

Money Management. So, after getting frustrated with wasting time and money, the up-and-coming trader begins to understand the need for money management, risking only a small percentage of a portfolio on a given trade versus too large a bet.

Psychology. The third phase is realizing how important psychology is – not only personal psychology but also the …

Investment Education Staff (January 28th, 2009) Writes:

by Taipan Trader
Advances in computer software technology has lead to a lot of interest in creating automatic forex system trading robots. After all, what could be better than to place a relatively small amount of money, say $1000 to $5000 dollars, in a forex brokerage account and see your account balance double every month or two while you are busy enjoying your life? Is such a happy result possible or is it just another Internet pipe dream?

It is important to know that the forex market itself is very genuine. The forex market is the largest financial market in the world and involves the world’s major banks, brokerage firms, and trading houses. The forex market is open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. The trading volume in this market is usually 3 to 4 trillion USD a day. There is always the opportunity for a competent trader …

NYTimes: BlackRock is Fix it Firm to Manage Risky Assets of Others in Distress

Trader Mark (May 8th, 2008) Writes:
Blackrock (BLK) has been one of 2 financials I've held through thick and thin, even in the worst of it for the sector - Mastercard (MA) being the other. You can see from the chart, you would not even realize it's a financial based on it's stock behavior - many of its peers are down in the 40-60% range over similar period. (I'll post the chart later, it's not loading right now) :) This is a nice overview story on the NYTimes, led by one of my favorite managers Larry Fink [Mar 18: Larry Fink from Blackrock Getting more Bullish]. It has been interesting to see when other companies, or even states get into trouble [Dec 7: Blackrock Swoops in to Help Florida] that Blackrock is on the other side of the Bat Phone. In fact, when the Federal Reserve needed some help - they turned ...
