CareFusion Corp. (CFN) entered into a multi-year technology licensing agreement with Masimo Corp. Broadcom Beats Easily – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (October 23rd, 2009) Writes:

Broadcom Corp. (BRCM) yesterday reported revenues of $1.254 billion in the third quarter, down 3.4% year over year but up 20.6% sequentially and surpassed its previously provided guidance of sequential revenue growth in the range of 7% – 14%.

The sequential growth in revenues was broad- based driven by a return to normal order patterns from customers and a number of new product ramps. In terms of end markets, growth in broadband communications was driven by growth in the broadband modems and digital set-top box end-markets. In the digital TV market, revenues were adversely impacted by one large customer losing market share in North America and some share loss with other customers.

MBT Confirms Outlook, Ups CapEx – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (October 20th, 2009) Writes:
Russia’s incumbent telecom carrier Mobile TeleSystems (MBT) released its 2009 outlook yesterday. The company has lifted its capital expenditure (CapEx) guidance to $1.8 billion from $1.5 billion as per the previous guidance.   This increase is primarily due to the expected growth in capital spending in Central Asian markets and appreciation of the ruble against the US dollar. While the revised CapEx for 2009 is lower than $2.2 billion spent in 2008, as a percentage of sales it still remains at 22%. In contrast, the company’s archrival VimpelCom (VIP) is expected to spend 12%-15% of sales in 2009.   Mobile TeleSystems plans to invest approximately $450 million in 2009 in 3G network infrastructure and expansion of its proprietary distribution network. Moreover, the company has earmarked $350 million for the maintenance of its existing network. To fund its investments in 3G network, the company has secured a loan ...

Caterpillar Tops Expectations – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (October 20th, 2009) Writes:
Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) reported third quarter earnings of 64 cents per share, well above the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 7 cents per share. The company’s better-than-expected performance was primarily driven by higher price realization, lower SG&A and R&D costs, and inventory decrement benefits. However, on a year-over-year basis the company’s EPS declined 54.0%. Revenue in the quarter was down 43.8% to $7.3 billion from $13.0 billion posted last year. The sales decline in the quarter constituted lower machinery sales volume (-$4.2 billion), lower Engines sales volume (-$1.5 billion), negative impact of foreign currency translation (-$138 million), lower financial products revenue (-$118 million), partially offset by higher price realization (+$227 million). The company witnessed revenue weakness across its end markets. The Machinery Group revenue was down 52%, while the Engines segment and Financial Products segment have reported revenue declines of 35% and 14% respectively. This was due ...
