Apple Prescribes Tablet – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (July 27th, 2009) Writes:
Apple Inc. (AAPL) is expected to launch a tablet PC (netbook) targeting the Christmas season this year. It is reported that the Apple netbook will come with a touch-sensitive screen, measuring up to 9.7 inches diagonally and will be CD compatible, enabling music playback. Three Taiwanese companies -- Foxconn, Wintek and Dynapack -- are expected to be part of the deal. Internet connectivity brings the tablet on par with other netbooks such as those offered by Hewlett Packard Company (HPQ), Dell (DELL) and Asustek. However, the company’s ability to offer rich content distinguishes it from the others. Apple already offers music on its iPods. It is expected that the netbook will offer music, movies and video games, making it the ideal all-in-one entertainment device. Apple also intends to offer new services such as interactive booklets and liner notes. Several book publishers have expressed interest, ...

Nokia, Intel Share Smart Phone Pie – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (June 25th, 2009) Writes:

Intel (INTC) and Nokia (NOK) have joined hands to tap the smart phone and MID market. Nokia will use the Atom processor in its smart phones and mobile Internet devices going forward, even as Intel licenses Nokia's 3G HSPA modem technology.

The two companies have used open source software from Linux to develop their respective mobile platforms. The strategic relationship is expected to enable Intel's Moblin (currently in beta stage) and Nokia's Maemo to incorporate several open source applications, such as oFono, ConnMan, Mozilla, X.Org, BlueZ, D-BUS, Tracker, GStreamer and PulseAudio through some co-coordinated effort. The association will also enhance device functionality for both in terms of Internet connectivity, wireless communication, superior graphics and comprehensive multimedia capabilities.

Nokia currently holds about 40% share of the mobile phone market and a 34% market share in smart phones. The partnership should, therefore, be of great strategic

Google and Apple – Two Stocks to Buy Today

Faisal Laljee (September 14th, 2008) Writes:
I am currently on vacation and my Internet connectivity is intermittent at best. However, I feel compelled to write that I think Google (GOOG) and Apple (AAPL) are two stocks that should be bought today.Google, with it's Chrome browser has taken a crticial step toward the application software market. They are looking for the desktop imterface to be completely replaced by a browser. To that effect, Chrome has an exceptionally robust, yet simple interface. The limited testing that I have done myself shows Chrome to be faster and much more stable than Microsoft's IE 7, which now holds over 70% of the browser market, with Firefox a distant second with over 20% and Apple's Safari with 6%. While Chrome has a very long way to go, it's purpose is to allow businesses to run remote applications via the browser and run them fast. Conceptually, this design is a stride ...
