Hemispherx Fights Back Against Feuerstein

Michael Vlaicu (May 29th, 2009) Writes:

In the latest developments of Hemispherx BioPharma, BioMedReports analyzes and dissects the latest article from TheStreet.com with an interview involving Dr. Carter. If you are an avid fan of Ampligen and have invested in Hemispherx, this read is definitely worth your time. Article published by M.E. Garza of BioMedReports.com

“What do we think CFS is?” Dr. William Reeves asked a worldwide audience watching his streaming video presentation from the meeting for the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Advisory Committee (CFSAC) of the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, DC. on Thursday. “It’s a complex illness, with alterations in complex homeostatic systems. It’s not the result of a single mutation or a single environmental factor. It comes from a combination of many factors: genetics, gender, stressors, immune stressors all interact.”

Reeves is chief of the U.S.

Russian Rumors

Contrarian Profits (May 28th, 2009) Writes:

Dollar rallies on N. Korea warning…  Emerging Markets decouple…  A debt upgrade for New Zealand…  Swiss francs rise despite SNB warnings… And Now… Today’s Pfennig!

Well… The dollar came back with some vengeance yesterday pushing the Big Dog, euro, back well within the 1.38 handle, and all the other little dogs, other currencies, followed. There wasn’t data to speak of yesterday to push the dollar higher, it was simply a case of fright, as safe haven flows went the dollar’s way after the news of a N. Korea attack warning spread throughout the markets.

Funny thing… I get a daily email

Dare to Be a Great Investor – Zacks Tale of the Tape

Tracey Ryniec (December 8th, 2008) Writes:
Bear markets separate the so-so investors from the great ones. During bull markets, it's fairly easy to post solid numbers year-after-year in a portfolio. But who is still standing when the stuff hits the fan?

Great investors are made through adversity. Market sentiment is usually so negative that only those with guts to wade in are rewarded.

Timing is also everything in investing.

What would John Templeton's career have been like if it wasn't shaped by the stock market of the Great Depression? In the same vein, Warren Buffett made his fame by going on a buying binge during the Super Bear Market of 1972-1974.

Great investors emerge when the going gets tough because that's when the talent rises to the top.

But both of these men, considered by many to be among the great investors of the last 75 years, also have characteristics that fueled their greatness.

China Will Not Escape The Depression

Contrarian Profits (November 26th, 2008) Writes:

Not too long ago it seemed that everybody loved China.  It was a panacea, a magic bullet, the answer to every question. How can the US avoid recession? China. Why are the stock markets racing higher? China. Why is oil over $140 a barrel? China. You may have noticed that all this cheerleading has gone very quiet, very quickly.

The economists that prophesied China would become the world’s biggest economy by 2015 have changed their tune. Those that recommended investing in China have quickly gone broke.

Believe it or not, China could be next on the credit crunch’s hit list.

The City still doesn’t buy it though. To quote arch-bear Albert Edwards:

“The consensus still touchingly believes that despite a deep economic downturn in developed economies, continued rapid emerging market growth will keep overall world growth resilient.

“My view is that outright contraction of global growth is entirely possible next year.”

I think he’s right. A sharp slowdown

Barack Obama Stock Index versus John McCain Stock Index versus Dow Jones Industrial Average

Fred Fuld (October 3rd, 2008) Writes:
If you look at the companies that major contributors to the presidential candidates are connected with, stock indexes can be created for each candidate. Forbes Magazine came out with a great list of the members of the Forbes 400 that have contributed to presidential campaigns. The following spells out the stocks of each candidate, and who the contributor is. The contributors are either major shareholders or they run or have run these companies. The above graph shows the Barack Obama Stock Index and the John McCain Stock Index and compares them to the Dow Jones Industrial Average. What is interesting is that the returns for the two presidential candidates are almost identical, with the McCain Stock Index down 21% and the Obama Stock Index down 22%. But what is most unusual is that the indices for both candidates greatly underperformed the ...
