Exxon in Talks for IT Offshoring – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (August 28th, 2009) Writes:
The world’s largest publicly traded oil company, Exxon Mobil Corporation (XOM), is in discussions with top Indian technology firms for outsourcing several IT contracts worth up to $1 billion. This comes just a day after BP (BP) awarded over $1.5 billion worth of outsourcing contracts to India. Like other oil majors, Exxon also runs on an SAP platform across the company’s chemical and oil businesses in over 200 countries. In the midst of economic turbulence, outsourcing and offshoring of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) maintenance and support are gaining momentum to save the company’s operational costs. For instance, BP expects to save around $500 million over five years by reducing the number of its suppliers to 5 from around 40. Low cost is one of the Exxon’s competitive advantages. Total operating cost in the first half of 2009 were down 13% from the same period last ...

Commodities Are The Best Place To Be For The Next Decade

Contrarian Profits (May 14th, 2009) Writes:

Why invest in commodities? Two and a half billion people are going to live like Americans in the next 20 years and prices go up over time, that’s the nature of inflation.

We are in the middle of a global economic crisis and commodities are on sale. Buy commodities now while they are still cheap. When we finally emerge from this global economic crisis — prices will explode higher. I’m talking about another long-term bull market in commodities. Let me explain…

Inflation Will Push Commodities Prices Higher

Our Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is an inflationist, which is an advocate of the policy of deliberate inflation achieved by increasing the supply of available currency and credit. They call him helicopter Ben because he once quoted a statement made by Milton Friedman, about using a “helicopter drop” of money into the economy to fight deflation.

Bernanke is a student of the causes of

$200-a-barrel will only benefit Exxon Mobil

Ben Stevens (May 8th, 2008) Writes:
When will oil stop heading up and will we have to pay $5 or $6 a gallon for gas at the pump?  There's only one way to offset the costs of oil and gas for Joe Consumer, buy shares of Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM). Take part in the soon to be record profits for the world's largest company on a market capitalization basis. Exxon wants to cash in as well, why not own more shares of your own company to reap the benefits of your success.  Plain and simple, Exxon Mobil plans to have their cake and eat it to. Exxon spent $31.8 billion to buy back shares in 2007 and $8 billion buying back shares in the first quarter.  If Wall Street won't raise their shares to a new 52-week high, Exxon Mobil Corporation will do it themselves.  Take existing shares ...
