SAP AG (SAP) reported third quarter of 2009 net income from continuing operations of 60 cents per share, compared to the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 58 cents. U.S. GAAP software and software-related service revenues were €1.94 billion (previous year: €1.99 billion), a decrease of 3%. Epicor Updates Guidance – Analyst Blog

Epicor Software Corp. (EPIC) recently updated the guidance for the third quarter. The company earlier anticipated revenues between $96 million and $100 million and earnings per share of 9 cents to 10 cents. However, Epicor now expects that it will exceed the EPS guidance provided earlier.

The company had earlier reported a disappointing second quarter as results were adversely impacted by unfavorable movement in foreign exchange rates. The company’s exposure to retail environment has been under pressure due to recessionary economic environment.

Management is trying hard to maintain profitability in difficult times. The company earlier reduced its workforce by 10% and lowered its discretionary spending. These actions are expected to result in annual savings of at least $18 million providing a boost to margins in the upcoming quarters.

Yesterday, Epicor Software Corp. (EPIC) reported quarterly revenue of $100.4 million that was down 21.5% from a year ago, but up 1.7% sequentially, against the consensus estimate of $102.14 million. This was close to the low end of management’s forecasted range of $100 million – $105 million. The unfavorable movement in foreign exchange rates negatively impacted sales by 5%. On a constant currency basis, second-quarter revenues were $105.6 million.

Epicor develops and markets enterprise application software solutions targeting mid-sized firms with annual revenue of $10 million to $1 billion.

Though outsourcing is still a relatively small part of the company's overall services business, the number of customers have doubled in the past two years.
