AngloGold, Newmont Expanding – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (October 7th, 2009) Writes:
AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (AU), the world’s third largest gold producer, plans to expand output through exploration. The company aims to produce up to 6 million ounces annually, up from 4.98 million ounces in 2008, largely by improving its mines and expanding through exploration. AngloGold expects the dollar price of gold to rise. The company has forecasted gold prices of $950 to $1,100 per ounce in 2010. It expects gold prices to rise beyond $1,100 if the downtrend in the US economy continues and investment demand for gold increases further. Although electricity costs and new wage settlements have put pressure on the company's bottom line, it has no plans to lay off workers to save costs. AngloGold is also planning to develop its La Colosa project in Colombia. In July this year, AngloGold had teamed up with African miner Randgold Resources to buy Moto Goldmines, which owns ...

Blessing in Disguise

Sean Brodrick (February 4th, 2009) Writes:

Boy, I wish I had a time machine. I wouldn’t have to go far — just back a few months to buy silver at under $9 an ounce (a 38% discount to recent prices) and gold at under $715 (a 27% discount to recent prices).

Well, I do have the next best thing, though — a list of undervalued gold and silver miners that are trading at dirt-cheap valuations to their gold reserves.

These miners are leveraged to the price of precious metals. They’ve been beaten down, and they could rebound hard. Why?

Silver, Gold, GDX, S&P

Gold and silver have outperformed other investments by a wide margin recently. In January, we saw gold climb nearly 5% …

Aspire Talks with Hoku’s (Nasdaq:HOKU) Darryl Nakamoto

Small Cap Pulse (December 15th, 2008) Writes:
December 15, 2008 ndash; We recently had the opportunity to ask Darryl Nakamoto, CFO of Hoku Scientific some questions about what he is seeing in the solar sector: Aspire: What surprised you about the solar markets in 2008? Were there any significant developments (political, technological, consumer-driven and/or industry-driven) that occurred which you werenrsquo;t anticipating? Nakamoto: We were pleasantly surprised by the extension of the Federal Renewable Energy ITC. We did not foresee its inclusion in the legislation aimed at stabilizing the credit markets. In our local market, we were also very pleased by the progress represented by the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative, which lays out a specific plan of action for the broad and rapid deployment of renewable technology throughout the state.nbsp; Aspire: Solar/PV energy costs between 21 and 38 cents per kWh to produce. We are still a ways off from reaching grid parity. When do you think that happens? And ...

Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (HYBR.OB) Answers Questions about Electric Vehicles

QualityStocks (October 9th, 2008) Writes:

Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (HYBR.OB), known for its ability to convert almost any vehicle into an all-electric vehicle (EV), finds itself having to educate a public more attracted to the idea of electric power than ever before. The unpredictable cost of gasoline has created a torrent of interest in electric cars, but many people still have only the sketchiest understanding of what it means to own and operate one. Below are some of the most common questions Hybrid staff has had to answer:

Question: You say plug-in electric vehicles are pollution free, but what about the pollution created at all the power plants needed to generate the electricity?

Answer: Even after counting emissions from electric generating plants, EVs produce 98% fewer pollutants than gas cars. Energy produced under the controlled conditions of a power plant results in less pollution than energy produced in individual gas burning cars, even if

ZAP (ZAAP) – Ride this Xebra and get a $1K Rebate

QualityStocks (May 29th, 2008) Writes:

This is more than your $75 cell phone rebate; more than the 50-cent rebate on the back of your favorite pack of razors. Today, the California Air Resources Board, a department of the California Environmental Protection Agency, announced it is offering a $1,000 rebate toward the purchase of a Xebra electric car or truck, manufactured by ZAP (OTCBB: ZAAP).

In a pocket-pinching economy, this news drives rebates to a new level. Not only do customers receive a rebate, but heading to the gas pump on the way home will cost as little as 60 cents. The rebate covers more than 30,000 miles of driving; assuming electricity costs are roughly 3 cents per mile, this could result in several years of fuel-free driving.

“This program alone is enough incentive to stimulate Xebra sales to a whole new level,” ZAP CEO Steve Schneider stated in the press release. “Similar programs in
