Microsoft Gets a “Sidekick” – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (October 13th, 2009) Writes:
It is feared that some users of Sidekick phones have lost most of the personal information stored on remote servers manned by Microsoft (MSFT). The servers were based on Sun’s (JAVA) Solaris/Linux/Oracle (ORCL) technology.  Several versions of the phone were sold through service provider T-Mobile, which is a part of Deutsche Telekom AG (DT). T-Mobile has offered customers a $20 refund toward one month of data usage on the phone and an additional $100 through a customer appreciation card, which can be used for T-Mobile products and services, or for payment of a T-Mobile bill.  Customers have expressed outrage at the prospect of compensation, which was largely deemed to be insufficient. This was made worse by T-Mobile’s announcement that it would require another two weeks to send out details regarding the $100 claim. T-Mobile has also announced that it would probably be able ...

DT, PALM & the Pre – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (April 24th, 2009) Writes:
Highlights include Deutsche Telekom AG (DT), Apple, Inc. (AAPL), Palm, Inc. (PALM) and Sprint Nextel Corp. (S).Deutsche Telekom (DT), the parent of T-Mobile USA, has reported (in its recent earnings release) that it sold a little over one million G1 phones using the Android system over the past six months. G1 sales are about 65% of T-Mobile USA's 3G handset sales. This is about 27% of the sales of Apple's (AAPL) iPhone during an equivalent period.Industry sources consider the G1 situation to be similar to that faced by Palm (PALM) when it introduces the Pre. Although T-Mobile USA's growth rate is dropping, it is in better shape than Sprint (S), which will be exclusive carrier for the Pre. Sprint's subscriber base is declining by about one million subscribers per quarter. Read the full analyst report on "DT"...
