Kraig Biocraft Laboratories Inc. (KBLB.OB) and Team of Scientists Successfully Create 8 Spider Silk-Based DNA Constructs

QualityStocks (July 13th, 2009) Writes:

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories Inc. develops protein-based fiber using recombinant DNA technology. The company focuses on spider silk because of its exceptional strength and durability. Some spiders produce up to seven different types of silk, depending on its use, for catching prey, spinning a web, or traveling.

Since spiders are cannibals and hard to keep in colonies, the company maintains its focus on reproducing the fibers using transgenic silkworms. The idea is to create a transgenic variety of silkworms capable of spinning a new “super fiber” that is similar or an exact copy of natural spider silk, which is can be used in military and police departments, industrial and consumer applications, as well as for the aero-space industry.

In May of this year, Kraig Biocraft announced that it has successfully created eight DNA constructs, with the help of a team of scientists. Having teamed up

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. (KBLB.OB) Has Significant Addition to the Research Team

QualityStocks (June 26th, 2009) Writes:

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories Inc. is an emerging biotech company with a strong intellectual property portfolio relating to the genetic modification of silkworms to produce spider silk. The company believes that spider silk is a “super fiber” that will have numerous commercial and consumer applications. With spider silk as a base, the company hopes to tap into the $92 billion market for high performance and technical fibers.

Kraig Biocraft announced several months ago that genetic engineer Dr. Bong-Hee Sohn joined the research and development team to develop new high performance polymers using spider silk gene sequences. Dr. Sohn is another major addition to the research team at the company.

Dr. Sohn received her PhD from Kyung-Hee University in South Korea. Her extensive research background includes work in research labs in Japan and South Korea. One of her areas of specialty in genetic engineering is the

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. (KBLB.OB) Recognizes Discovery to Enhance Spider Silk Strength

QualityStocks (June 4th, 2009) Writes:

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. is a biotechnology company focused on the development of commercially significant high performance polymers and technical fibers. Based on proprietary genetic engineering technology, the company is working to develop and produce polymers and protein-based materials from silkworms and spiders. Kraig Biocraft believes that spider silk is a “super fiber” that will have numerous commercial and consumer applications.

Kraig Biocraft recently announced that scientists have discovered a way to make spider silk three times stronger by adding small amounts of metal. Even though the natural spider-made fiber is already tougher and lighter than steel, this new technique could make it useful for manufacturing super-tough textiles and high-tech medical materials, such as artificial bonds and tendons.

The discovery, published by the journal “Science”, was made by researcher Seung-Mo Lee of the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics in Halle, Germany. The breakthrough addition of zinc,

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. (KBLB.OB) is on the Verge of Unlocking Exciting Technology

QualityStocks (May 28th, 2009) Writes:

We have been covering Kraig Biocraft Laboratories since December of last year. Those who have read our articles understand why we are excited about this company’s prospects to develop a “super fiber” that can be sold into the technical textiles industry. This super fiber, spider silk, has truly remarkable properties and may have numerous commercial and consumer applications.

Currently Kraig Biocraft is in the research and development stage, but has been making excellent progress in the labs and is now capable of accomplishing five thousand genetic transfers in a single week using its newly designed DNA insertion packets. Additional lab personnel and a change in techniques has significantly boosted productivity and the company’s odds of success.

Artificial or transgenic production of spider silk will surely be viewed by the scientific community as a major breakthrough. Such a development would also likely yield significant coverage in the

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories Inc. (KBLB.OB) and Team of Scientists Successful in Creating 8 Spider Silk-Based DNA Constructs

QualityStocks (May 19th, 2009) Writes:

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories Inc. develops protein-based fiber using recombinant DNA technology. The company uses spider silk because of its exceptional strength and durability. Some spiders produce up to seven different types of silk, depending on its use, for catching prey, spinning a web, or traveling.

Since spiders are cannibals and hard to keep in colonies, the company maintains its focus on reproducing the fibers, mimicking nature as much as it can. The fibers can be used in military and police departments, industrial and consumer applications, as well as for the aero-space industry.

Earlier this month, Kraig Biocraft announced that it, along with a team of scientists, successfully created eight DNA constructs, which they plan on using for genetic insertion in the upcoming weeks. Having teamed up with the University of Notre Dame to move into the $92 billion market for technical fibers, the news is a

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories (KBLB.OB) is on the Cusp of Potentially Unlocking Hundreds of Millions

QualityStocks (April 14th, 2009) Writes:

Those of us who were around in the 1970’s remember watching The Six Million Dollar Man. In this fictional series, Steve Austin was an astronaut that met with an accident and the government was able to rebuild him to be better, stronger, and faster. If you take a look at what Kraig Biocraft Laboratories is doing, the obscure theme from The Six Million Dollar Man seems to resonate. Kraig Biocraft is taking a naturally occurring element from nature and is on a mission to make it better, stronger, and faster.

Kraig Biocraft, an emerging biotech company, has brought together some of the world’s best researchers to take this technology and collaborate on how to make spider silk’s better and stronger capabilities available commercially. The company is also reaching out to developing minds by launching the Kraig Research Initiative, which is a work program that funds
