Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (JEC) yesterday signed a contract with Amtrak, the National Railroad Passenger Corporation. According to the contract, the company will provide program management and construction management services for more than 100 infrastructure improvement projects (at over 360 locations). The potential value in excess of $560 million will be funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) economic-stimulus package.   Under this contract, Jacobs will manage, procure, and administer, in part or in full, the design and construction of projects such as maintenance facility upgrades, bridge replacements, track work, security enhancements, and various station improvements.   In support of small and minority-owned businesses, Jacobs and Amtrak will set individual goals for significant levels of small and disadvantaged business enterprise participation, and contract projects to create jobs that will further economic recovery and provide long-term benefits.   With annual revenues exceeding $12 billion, Jacobs is one ...

URS Corporation (URS) announced that an alliance between URS and PBS&J has been awarded a contract by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assist the agency in providing temporary housing and mass care solutions for the survivors of the disaster. The five-year contract has a maximum value of $375 million for the alliance, in which URS is the managing partner. The joint venture will be responsible for hauling and installing, the maintenance and deactivation of temporary mobile housing units, as well as the construction of temporary housing communities, as necessary. Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (JEC) announced that it received a new framework to deliver a range of professional engineering services to the Manchester Airports Group (MAG) in the United Kingdom. MAG owns and operates four regional airports - Manchester, East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside - making it the second largest airport operator in the U.K.

Jacobs will provide airfield civil engineering, and mechanical and electrical engineering for MAG's building stock, including both airport facilities and non airport-related developments. Jacobs is the exclusive provider of these services.

The company also received a contract from the City and County of San Francisco, California, to provide construction management services for the San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center Rebuild Program.
