Will Obama Lift the Trade Embargo Against Cuba?

Money Morning (April 22nd, 2009) Writes:
U.S. President Barack Obama has opened the door to a broader relationship with Cuba by loosening travel and communication restrictions. But will pressure from numerous Latin American states and a promise to usher in a new era of cooperation and dialogue in the Western Hemisphere ultimately result in the revocation of the 47 year-old trade embargo? And what would it mean if the Cuban trade embargo were actually abolished? President Obama has already loosened several restrictions enacted by his predecessor George W. Bush. Prior to his arrival at the Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago last weekend, Obama relaxed restrictions on travel to Cuba, making it easier for Cuban Americans to visit and transfer money to relatives on the island. “There are no better ambassadors for freedom than Cuban Americans,” Obama said in a campaign speech last year. “It’s time to ...

It’s Electric

Alex Kolb (August 24th, 2008) Writes:
One of Zacks.comÂ’s several trading services, the Breakout Trader, recently received a boost in the form of a 19% return on a stock that was in the portfolio for a holding period that was a couple days short of just one month. The stock was American Science & Engineering ( ASEI), and its share price is still rising.

Impressed by American Science & EngineeringÂ’s results, I set out to find similar plays, making sure the fundamentals were strong. After browsing several companies, it became evident that my screening strategy should be narrowed down to companies that, like ASEI, provide big ticket items serving industrial markets.

With the use of Research Wizard, I found AZZ incorporated (AZZ) and Teledyne Technologies, Inc. (TDY). I also discovered that all three companies are makers of industrial electronic equipment or components, bringing to mind the only memorable part of the

Integrated Device a Little Early

Zacks Market Commentaries (August 15th, 2008) Writes:

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDTI) recently completed a major acquisition of ICST that increased the size of the firm by 40%. The synergies of the deal are still developing and should drive margins up. June top and bottomline results beat the consensus estimates.

New design wins and growing acceptance of new products highlighted a solid quarter. We have a positive long-term view of the company but would prefer to see design wins contribute to revenue and macro strength before considering a Buy rating. We continue to rate shares of IDT a Hold.

With the purchase of ICS, IDTI is now a leading provider of timing solutions, offering a complete portfolio of products for clock generation. These chips have the function of synchronizing signals within communications equipment. The firm saw continued momentum in its Communications Clocks business, which grew revenue for the sixth consecutive quarter. This growth was partially offset by
