The company issued a corporate update summarizing the status of Omnicity’s business growth plan for fiscal year 2010 several weeks ago. The company stated they will continue to partner with rural electric membership cooperatives (REMCs) and rural telecom companies along with state and local governments in order to expand their network across rural America. Omnicity also pledged to expand their service offerings and become a total broadband solution.

China Mobile (CHL), the world’s largest wireless carrier by subscriber, has revealed its plan to commence the trial run of its 4G network during World Expo 2010 to be held in Shanghai from May 1 to Oct 31, 2010. The company’s 4G service is based on the TD-LTE (Time Division Duplex Long Term Evolution) mobile broadband technology. Roughly 200 participants and 70 million visitors are expected to assemble at the Expo.   China Mobile has recently selected Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) for the responsibilities of design, construction, installation and integration of communication infrastructure to facilitate the 4G network trial. Metalink Ltd. (MTLK) Reports Loss in Third Quarter

Metalink Ltd. reported a net loss of $4.0 million, or $0.16 per share, in the third quarter of 2009. These results were slightly worse than the $3.0 million, or $0.13 per share, the company lost in the same quarter last year. Revenues were $500,000 in the third quarter of 2009 compared to $800,000 in the same quarter last year.

Metalink Ltd. has had a difficult time during the recession due to a drop in orders from its customers. The company received a warning from its auditors in March 2009, expressing doubts about its ability to continue as a going concern.

Although Metalink Ltd. held cash and equivalents of $3.8 million as of September 30, 2009, the company has significant short-term debt on its balance sheet, totaling $4.3 million. During the quarter, the company successfully renegotiated a large portion of its short term debt, and extended the term.
