SINA Beats Forecast – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (November 17th, 2009) Writes:
After market closed, SINA Corp. (SINA) reported revenues of $96.4 million in the third quarter of 2009. Revenues was down 8.6% year over year but was up 6.8% sequentially. Revenues exceeded the company's guidance of $91.0 – $94.0 million and easily beat the Zacks Consensus estimate of $94.0 million. This reflects strong execution of the company’s online advertising business in China , which grew double-digits sequentially. We expect a huge improvement in SINA’s advertising business, as advertising spending recovers. SINA expects to benefit from government stimulus packages. Moreover, management is witnessing signs of a strong recovery in the advertising market in China in the second half of this year, which is reflected in the company’s higher-than-expected guidance. Advertising revenues decreased 16.3% year over year but was up 10% quarter over quarter, exceeding the company’s guidance of $60.0 – $62.0 million. Non-advertising ...

Pansoft Inc. (POSF) Announces New Finance and Accounting Integration Project, Finding International Recognition of its Software Solutions

QualityStocks (August 5th, 2009) Writes:

It’s not often that one comes across a developing company that is growing at a nice clip in these seemingly difficult times. In a general sense, this type of event points to the need for certain types of products and services whatever the economic conditions might be. Energy is such a commodity as is the need to manage its use and distribution. Finding such types of markets and products is a safe way to capitalize in difficult times. The big boy’s in the market are easy to spot in this regard, finding the new and growing ones, however, is where the real profit might be made.

Pansoft Inc., a developer and marketer of office efficiency software, works to offer solutions and software products directed primarily at the domestic Chinese oil and gas markets. The company currently offers a full range of products from warehouse management to finance and cost controls. Pansoft

POP QUIZ: Which Government Most Wants to Sell $134.5 Billion in the Black Market?

Robert Amsterdam (June 16th, 2009) Writes:

I don't typically like spending a lot of time on stories that have more coverage by blogs than actual news outlets, but this one is really too juicy to pass up and it also continues our ongoing conversation about the dollar's prominence as a global reserve currency. Two men were recently stopped by Italian authorities while trying to cross the border into Switzerland with a fake-bottomed suitcase containing $134.5 billion worth of US Treasury bonds. That's right - billion with a B. Let's take just a moment to review which of the United States' various creditors even hold that much US debt. According to the latest data from the US Treasury Department, this is what we have to work through April of this year:

China ~ $763.5 billion Japan ~ $685.9 billion Caribbean Banking Centers ~ $204.7 billion OPEC ~

How to Gauge the Coming Failure of the London G-20 Meeting

Contrarian Profits (March 30th, 2009) Writes:

For weeks now the liberal world media dutifully has been repeating dire threats against so-called “tax havens” from the big spending, high taxing, anti-tax competition likes of Germany’s Merkel and France’s Sarkosy.

Even President Obama allowed his less than impressive Secretary of the Treasury to make some noise against tax havens.

The orchestrated battle of words hurled at offshore financial centers got so heated that British PM Gordon Brown felt obliged to demand for “the end of tax havens.”

This belated anti-tax haven baloney comes from Her Majesty’s first minister whose government is in charge (and has been for a decade) of the United Kingdom’s many tax havens in its overseas territories (Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, the Turks & Caicos) and its Crown Dependencies (the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey and the Isle of Man), plus Gibraltar.

Does the Rt. Hon. Gordon believe that the

China Gengsheng Minerals Inc. (CHGS.OB) Continues to Make Deals and Sign Sales Contracts

QualityStocks (October 14th, 2008) Writes:

The intermediate materials marketplace is often neglected in favor of the end-product people understand. Most investors just feel more comfortable with their basic understanding of the product they are investing in. What they are missing, however, are the companies that supply the materials and processes needed to manufacture the end-product. Investing in the means to the end can be a lucrative move, if one can find those hidden companies that make the end-product come to life in the first place.

China Gengsheng Minerals Inc., an advanced materials manufacturer with corporate offices in the British Virgin Islands, works to manufacture and market materials primarily to the steel and oil industries of China. A recent acquisition has also added fine abrasives to the company’s product offerings.

China Gengsheng Minerals operates primarily is China, but serves over 200 customers worldwide. Although the company is currently pursuing additional markets in somewhat similar areas, its primary customer

Dividend Superstars Recommends Nam-Tai Electronics

CEO Blogger (October 7th, 2008) Writes:

viastockadvisors

After returning from a trip to Asia to uncover long-term investment ideas Nilus Mattive, editor of Dividend Superstars, offers a income stock buy – Nam-Tai Elecronics (NYSE: NTE).

Track Nilus’ picks at:

http://trackthepros.com/stocks/category/579

“Nam-Tai manufactures electronics for telecom and consumer electronics companies. And although the firm is technically incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, it has offices in Macao, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

“More importantly, all of its manufacturing is done in Shenzhen, China. I just got back from Asia, and I was very impressed by the ongoing growth that I saw there.

“Of course Nam Tai’s end markets include the U.S. and Europe, so results will suffer if the global economy loses steam. There are signs this is happening. For example, weakness was evident in Nam Tai’s second-quarter earnings report — revenues fell 26% on a 50% drop in cell phone sales.

“The company noted that the environment had become ‘difficult and extremely competitive.’

A Discarded Memo on Russia

Robert Amsterdam (September 5th, 2008) Writes:
This one is pretty entertaining from Dominic Lawson at the Independent: I found the following memo – as you do – under a half-finished cup of coffee on the train to Waterloo. Coffee stains made it difficult to read, but it seemed to have come from a person with the single initial, C. "Prime Minister, you asked us to come up with 'the cheapest possible way to nobble Putin, which will not involve speeches or public acts of any sort by that bastard Miliband'. While we were slightly surprised by this reference to the Secretary of State, we share your view that another of his speeches on the naughtiness of the Russians, and how the EU is really, really serious about it this time, will not do. You will have observed from today's newspapers how a systematic campaign of financial and legal harassment has caused BP to blink in its battle with ...
