SkyWest, Inc. (Nasdaq: SKYW) reported an 8.9 percent increase in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for July, while available seat miles (ASMs) increased 4.5 percent compared to the same period last year. The combined airlines generated 1.75 billion RPMs for the month, while ASMs increased to 2.10 billion. Load factor was up 3.4 percentage points to 83.5 percent compared to 80.1 percent for the same period last year. I don't typically like spending a lot of time on stories that have more coverage by blogs than actual news outlets, but this one is really too juicy to pass up and it also continues our ongoing conversation about the dollar's prominence as a global reserve currency.
