Goldman Sachs’ Next Slaughter of the Stock Market Lambs

Trading School (November 5th, 2009) Writes:

I’m always interested in how Government ties in with the markets. It’s been a bit of a hobby of mine, along with WWII battles, over the past 2-3 years and there’s no bigger tie then Goldman and the Government then recently…and BOY is it bigger then we know! In my recent late night surfing I came across Greg Roy. Greg recently released a special report with the same title of this blog post, Goldman Sachs’ Next Slaughter of the Stock Market Lambs, and being the digger I am, I read the full report and cold called him. I asked if I could repost a part of the report for my Trader’s Blog members. After some convincing he said ok.

This guy knows what he is talking about… Here is an exclusive excerpt from his newly released report Goldman Sachs’ Next Slaughter of the Stock Market Lambs.

A Jobs Jamboree Friday!

Contrarian Profits (October 2nd, 2009) Writes:

The dollar remains well bid…G-7 to hand currencies off to G-20? Car Sales collapse…Auditing the Lehman cash movements…And Now… Today’s Pfennig!

Good day… And a Happy Friday to one and all! Yesterday, I welcomed you to October. I had been prepared to tell you about a famous radio station here in St. Louis, that has long called October… Rocktober… But forgot, as usual! But anyway… It’s the first Fantastico Friday of Rocktober!

Today is a Jobs Jamboree Friday too! And… I’m not getting a good feeling about today’s labor report at the Jobs Jamboree. The forecast is for jobs losses to fall from -216,000 to -175,000, but the unemployment rate to tick up to 9.8% from 9.7%… I got the feeling, baby, baby, I got the feeling… Oops, a little James Brown on Fantastico Friday never hurts! But what I was saying was I’m getting the feeling that there are risks

The Credit Rating Firms Are Running Scared – It’s About Time

Shah Gilani (September 11th, 2009) Writes:

When it comes to the U.S. credit crisis, we’ve all heard the numbers. The stock market decline wiped out $7 trillion in shareholder wealth. It forced the federal government to commit to $11.6 trillion in bailout programs and stimulus spending. And it’s led to the longest U.S. downturn since the Great Depression.

Everyone also knows that some of the key culprits behind this financial mess were the credit-rating firms like Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investors Service, which assigned top-tier “AAA” ratings to investments that were actually backed by subprime mortgages and other toxic debt.

Whether it was collusion or incompetence almost didn’t matter: The firms claimed that the credit ratings they issued were constitutionally protected free speech. With this First Amendment shield, S&P, Moody’s and others said they were protected from lawsuits or other liabilities.

But that’s about to change.

TiVo Wins Patent Infringement Again – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (September 8th, 2009) Writes:
The satellite television provider TiVo Inc. (TIVO) is a pioneer in digital video recording (DVR) technology. The company won a patent infringement lawsuit against EchoStar Communications Corp (SATS), the parent company of Dish Network Corp. (DISH). Under the 5-year multimedia patent infringement, TiVo has been awarded a sanction of $200 million ($110 million in damages and $90 million in sanctions in addition to attorney fees) from the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Texas.  Dish was spun off from EchoStar in 2008. It was found that a software in Dish Network’s set-top boxes violated TiVo live TV technology that consists of features like the ability to pause and rewind live programming.  Earlier, TiVo had won its 5-year patent lawsuit against EchoStar, forcing it to choose between the payment of licensing fees or stopping the use of TiVo’s technology. TiVo received damages of ...

Rambus (NASDAQ:RMBS): Judge Pushes Trial Date Due to Attorney’s “Grave Condition” – We See no Change in Legal Position – Reiterate Strong BUY

Notable Calls (September 1st, 2009) Writes:
Capstone Investments is out defending Rambus (NASDAQ:RMBS) this morning: Samsung Attorney’s health merits continuance. Yesterday, during hearing in RMBS’s upcoming Anti-Trust trial, Judge Kramer pushed trial date from Sept. 28th to Jan. 11th, 2010. Trial date was moved due to “grave condition” of Samsung attorney. Judge Kramer felt that beginning trial in ’10 was likely the best choice as he didn’t believe he could provide Samsung proper time to bring new attorney(s) up to speed, while also avoiding any rollover into holiday season. Given timing of prior Sept. 28th date, any delay in starting trial would likely pose issues in jury selection as holiday period would likely interfere. Other than timing the firm sees little impact from yesterday’s ruling. Capstone believes RMBS’s case remains intact, and sees no change in legal position ITC case provides ...

Old Spy Stories

Robert Amsterdam (August 28th, 2009) Writes:
We haven't paid all that much attention to the father-son spy duo Harold and Nathaniel Nicholson, the former residing in jail on a 23-year sentence, while the son, Nathaniel, today pleaded guilty to charges of money laundering related to the payments from the Russian Federation in return for the espionage services provided by his CIA-agent father.  My only question on this one:  why has the Russian government continued to pay its debts to this imprisoned spy?  Who says that Russia doesn't honor its contractual obligations!  I guess it sends a positive sign to future recruits that Moscow will take care of their families...

"In his guilty plea today, Nathaniel Nicholson acknowledged his role in the ongoing conspiracy with his father to collect money from the Russian federation for his father's past espionage activity," said acting U.S. Attorney Kent S. Robinson.
