AES Corporation (AES) is heading into its next report on rising estimates and good valuations.

Company Description

AES provides energy to 29 countries with energy through generation and distribution. The company has diversified portfolio of thermal and renewable fuel sources.

EPS Rises

On Aug 7 the company announced quarterly earnings per share of 28 cents, 3 cents higher than last year and 8 cents higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate.

All types of cash flow increased dramatically, including a $181 million jump in Consolidated Cash Flow, to $495 million.

Raising Guidance

During the same release the company raised full-year EPS guidance to between $1.05 and $1.10. The bottom and top end of the range rose 8 cents and 3 cents, respectively.

Solid Growth

Analyst estimates are coming in near the middle of the AES's forecasts, which would yield earnings growth of 9% this year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate is now $1.23,

Results from Arena’s (ARNA) phase III BLOSSOM study are strikingly similar to the BLOOM study, with mean total weight loss for the 10mg lorcaserin BID group coming in at 17.0 lbs in BLOSSOM vs. 17.9 lbs in BLOOM. These equated to 7.9% and 8.2% mean absolute weight loss. The placebo was 3.9% and 3.4% in each trial, respectively, putting the mean placebo-adjusted weight loss for each trial at 4.0% and 4.8%. Total categorical weight loss for the completer analysis was 63.2% in BLOSSOM and 66.4% in BLOOM, vs. 34.9% and 32.1% for the placebo. AuthenTec, Inc. (AUTH) Receives “Strong Buy” Rating

AuthenTec, Inc. stock was upgraded from “Outperform” to “Strong Buy” by Raymond James Financial on Thursday (June 12th). The announcement fueled a rapid appreciation of 12.3 percent for the day.

AuthenTec itself has been growing by leaps and bounds, seeing a 67 percent revenue increase in the first quarter of 2008.
