This Building-Heavy Construction Stock Keeps The Growth Coming As Earning Estimates Continue To Rise

Joshua Hayes (June 8th, 2008) Writes:

A stock that I have stumbled on recently in one of my price and volume scans has me quite excited that I have found a young gem that could turn into a monster stock.

This stock is Aecom Technology Corporation (ACM) and is a provider of construction management and planning services to the transportation, facilities, and environmental markets. And these are the perfect markets to be in according to the growth in this outstanding company.

Earnings have been stellar, with EPS growth the past six quarters of 100%, 83%, 93%, 81%, 12%, and 59%. Sales, the past eight quarters, have been just as impressive with growth of 46%, 37%, 26%, 26%, 21%, 23%, 15%, and 7%.
Despite the growth in sales slowing a bit, the overall trend is extremely healthy.

This includes the 2008 and 2009 estimates which are expected to show EPS rising 29% and 19% those two years respectively. This current growth …

Fuqi Internal an undiscovered Gem no Longer

Joshua Hayes (June 3rd, 2008) Writes:

I sure don’t see many people talking about this “relatively” cheap stock, despite the stock hitting new highs. I guess this is great news to me as stocks that slip under investors radar screen’s that have this kind of growth is simply good news for me.

First off, the EPS growth the past four quarters have been fantastic with the stock showing 133%, 225%, 60%, and 244% sequential growth. Sales have been even stronger growing 62%, 19%, 20%, 15%, 9%, 90%, 122%, and 177% the past eight quarters.

This current growth along with the 2008 and 2009 earnings estimates for 122% and 36% growth is very bullish for the long term. That is why there are already 8 mutual funds involved in this stock despite its young age. The 0% debt helps a lot also.

Better yet, however, is the 17% ROE, 42% EPS growth rate, combined with a
16 p/e ratio which is …

Strategy Test: On-Balance-Volume

Declan Fallon (May 6th, 2008) Writes:
In this week's strategy test I take a look at on-balance-volume. Unlike the majority of the technical indicators, on-balance-volume (and accumulation/distribution) uses price as an actionary tab to measured volume; adding volume to a cumulative total on a higher close, but subtracting on a lower close. But how well does it perform as a trading indicator? The basic test looked at buying when on-balance-volume was positive and selling when negative. Test period: A complete bull-bear cycle defined by the S&P (March 20th 2000 to October 8th 2007). Stocks: Active Trader list (AAPL BA C CAT CSCO DIS GM HPQ IBM INTC IP JPM KO MSFT SBUX T WMT) Number of shares: 100 Commission: $9.95 (included in the loss calculation) Trades: Round-trip only; partial trades were excluded. As in the earlier stochastic analysis the number of trades executed was very large; just over 1,000 over the 7 year period. This ...
