Weak Results at Ness Tech – Analyst Blog

Zacks Market Commentaries (July 29th, 2009) Writes:
Today, Ness Technologies (NSTC) reported second quarter pro forma earnings of $0.09 per share, $0.02 better than the consensus estimate of $0.07 but down 64.0% from $0.25 in the year-ago period, and was well below our estimate of $0.14. Revenues fell 19.6% year-over-year to $137.2 million, slightly below the consensus estimate of $139.5 million and below our optimistic estimate of $150.0 million. Almost half of the revenue decrease was due to unfavorable foreign currency translation effects for non-dollar revenues, with the remainder attributable mainly to slower sales in the company’s System Integration and Application Development segment, which fell 17.7% year-over-year impacted by the worldwide economic slowdown. Revenue also declined as Software Distribution segment underperformed significantly in the quarter and fell 61.6%, resulting in an operating loss for the segment, partially offset by a moderate 3.8% increase in the Software Product Engineering segment. Non-GAAP gross margin for ...

Bulls and Bears: First Quarter Results Reveal Profitability Strategies

Outsourcing Insider (May 26th, 2009) Writes:

The first quarter results show the trends the companies will take in the succeeding quarters. Companies will continually lower costs through divestitures and workforce reduction and pay cut. Revenue generation strategies will be consolidation through mergers and acquisition and outsourcing.

General Motors Corporation (Public, NYSE:GM) reported net loss amounting to $6 billion while Ford Motor Company (Public, NYSE:F) with only $ 1.4 billion which was better than analyst projection. Similar with the automotive industry, the technology industry was also dominated by major losses. Hewlett-Packard Company (Public, NYSE:HPQ) reported a 3percent decline in revenue of $27.4 billion, so did Lenovo Group Limited (ADR)(Public, OTC:LNVGY) with a quarter loss of $264 million. Outsourcing providers were no exceptions as well; Convergys Corporation (Public, NYSE:CVG) with $21 million loss and TeleTech Holdings, Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:TTEC) with 8 to 10 percent decline in revenue.

Earnings Preview for Sep 22 – 26 – Earnings Preview

Charles Rotblut (September 18th, 2008) Writes:
The big bailout will be a key focus of the markets.

Congress is expected to meet over the weekend to discuss legislation proposed by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. The details of the proposal, and any additional measures designed to help homeowners struggling with mortgage payments, could impact market direction.

The temporary ban on short selling could also affect trading early in the week. Part of Friday's rally was the result of quadruple witching. Traders are being forced to close short positions rather than roll them over into new contracts.

On the earnings front, we have confirmed reports from 33 companies. Included in this group are S&P 500 members Autozone (AZO), Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY), Discover Financial (DFS), Jabil Circuit (JBL), KB Home (KBH), Lennar (LEN), McCormick (MKC), Nike (NKE) and Paychex (PAYX). I expect
