With a gain of approximately 6% today, NetScout Systems, Inc. (NTCT) is one of the top performing Zacks #1 Rank companies.

Earnings estimates for this fiscal year, ending this month, and next fiscal year, ending March 2010, are both higher than levels from 2 months ago by 17% and 11.8%, respectively. Furthermore, analysts expect next fiscal year’s profit to advance almost 4% from this fiscal year.

NTCT’s fiscal third-quarter report from late January was the main reason for the upward earnings revisions.

The company has an excellent record of beating Wall Street’s quarterly earnings expectations, and the fiscal third quarter was no exception as EPS beat both the consensus and year-ago result. The past 4 quarters has seen an average surprise of more than 100%.

Total revenue advanced 34% to approximately $72 million from almost $54 million a year earlier, as both product revenue and service revenue advanced.

NTCT reiterated its raised guidance for the rest of the fiscal year. Earnings estimates for the fiscal fourth quarter have moved upward to 22 cents from 18 cents in 2 months.
