LifePoint Hospitals Inc.’s (LPNT) fourth-quarter profit was marginally up by less than 1%, matching analysts’ estimates.
The company’s earnings, excluding one-time items, reached 63 cents per share. The quarter saw a lift in revenue by about 5% at $674.9 million.
LifePoint’s profit for 2008 rose 12% to $114.5 million from $102 million in 2007. Revenue advanced 5% to $2.7 billion the same year.
The Brentwood-based hospital owner expects profit between $2.25 and $2.55 in 2009. Analysts expect $2.49 for the year, which is down from $2.52 over the past 7 days. LifePoint forecasts revenue of $2.9 billion to $3 billion this year.
