The loss for the third quarter of 2009 was primarily attributable to non-cash pre-tax other-than-temporary impairment (”OTTI”) charges of $22.1 million relating to the Company’s investment in pooled trust preferred collateralized debt obligation (”trust preferred CDO”) securities, a $5.7 million provision for loan losses, and a $16.7 million charge against earnings to establish a valuation allowance for deferred tax assets.
