The end of the 2008 presidential campaign brought some relief to investors this Tuesday, as the Dow Jones Industrial average soared as high as 9,633 before 12:00 PM EST. Historically, gains on Wall Street are a characteristic of Election Day, although there were other factors playing into Tuesday’s upbeat sentiment. Interest rates among banks for short-term lending fell once again, as well as a better-than-expected third quarter earning report from credit-giant, MasterCard.
