It all began in 1974 for Supreme Industries Inc. when Omer Kropf and a business partner started the company in Goshen, Indiana. He felt there was an untapped need for higher quality light-and medium-duty truck bodies. His idea was to build the highest-quality truck bodies available and sell directly to dealers to more efficiently serve this market. What began as an operation with 25 employees is now a publicly traded company on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX).

Still based in Goshen, Supreme Industries Inc. is a U.S.-wide manufacturer of specialized truck bodies. The company custom-builds these truck bodies to the exact specifications of their customers, and they are the only publicly held vehicle-body builder in America. Supreme Industries went public in 1984 and has a current market capitalization of $49.90 million.

A broad spectrum of industrial, commercial, law enforcement, and Homeland Security customers use Supreme’s transportation equipment. These customers include dealers, distributors, fleet leasing companies, and final end users. The company has regional manufacturing plants as well as a nationwide sales and distribution network to serve these customer groups. They also have strong relationships with all the premier truck chassis manufacturers in the industry.

Supreme’s truck body products include van bodies, insulated bodies, service bodies, stake bodies, fiberglass bodies, and landscaping bodies. They also produce cutaway parcel delivery vans, furniture vans, homeland response vehicles, and armored vehicles (Brinks, etc.). The company offers equipment such as lift gates, cargo-handling equipment, customized doors, special bumpers, ladder racks, and refrigeration equipment. They also manufacture Fuel Shark fiberglass wind deflectors.

The Supreme family of companies is broad. Along with Supreme itself, which makes the truck bodies, they have their StarTrans, which manufactures shuttle and paratransit buses. Supreme Specialty Vehicles make the company’s homeland response vehicles. They are a leading manufacturer of tactical armored vehicles, cash-in-transit, S.W.A.T., R.D.V., prisoner transport, bomb squad, command center, mobile lab, hazardous material, crime scene, and search-and-rescue vehicles.

For approximately 34 years, Supreme Corporation has helped keep their customers moving. The company continues to offer a varied and versatile lineup designed for a myriad of transportation needs. They are continually working innovatively and creatively to fulfill the design needs of their customers.
