MRV Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC) announced that they were chosen to be the official Ethernet interconnect for the “Hands-on Lab” at Storage Networking World. Products from MRVs OptiSwitch line of gigabit and 10-gigabit ethernet switches will connect various lab environments at the convention, held this week at the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Dallas.

The Storage Networking World biannual Hands-On Lab features security and “virtualization” environments from 24 technology companies. The lab provides IT end-user attendees the opportunity to test-drive the latest technologies in a classroom setting led by engineers who create the technology, a company news release states.

“Storage area networking has become an increasingly complex issue with the variety of protocol options available to IT managers,” said Noam Lotan, MRV Communications president and CEO. “MRV’s OptiSwitch products offer network architects a variety of interface options with the versatility to interconnect multiple vendors’ devices to put together the most efficient SAN environment possible.”

SNIA Technology Director Rick Bauer said its professional relationship with MRV has been “highly beneficial” and allowed versatility in the show’s six storage networks. MRV also provides products and services for out-of-band networking, metro Ethernet, fiber optic components and more. They are also exhibiting at Storage Networking World.
