So what if you could trade/invest in your favorite sports player?

Well, now you can thanks to a very cool little start-up company E-Global Sports Network, Inc.

They launched their site OneSeason.com on Oct. 1, 2008—(I’m just now finding out about it?) and it is a stock market based on buying and selling shares in professional athletes. You’re trading virtual shares of the players, obviously BUT it is for real money! There’s even a bid and ask, volume, 52 wk range, etc.

So for all you fantasy sport fans, you’re gonna love this. Currently they have a market for basketball, football, hockey (haha), and baseball. They have most of the famous players in each sport and even have past players like Micheal Jordan, Babe Ruth, etc.

So here’s the deal: The player’s market price is driven up by demand based off of popularity, performance, and hype (just like penny stocks!). One problem that seems to happen is that player’s prices are manipulated the hell out of (Like penny stocks!). All you’d have to do is get a ton of friends to buy into a specific player to drive up the price. That’s the only problem I see with this cool idea….as I really don’t think the SEC could/or does regulate the market.

Most of the players are still penny stocks!! Even AROID AROD is a penny stock! So check it out guys and possibly create your own “sportfolio”
