From a Russian diplomat reacting to the signing of the Nabucco natural gas pipeline project:
“We are of the opinion that any gas pipeline network should be based
not on geopolitical considerations, but on economic realities… which
is not the case for Nabucco,” the diplomat said.

Riiiiight. And the Nord Stream and South Stream pipeline routes don’t form the shape of a “noose” around Eastern Europe, but rather a friendly hug.
