Kotak Securities (India) introduces trading platform providing direct access to equities, ETF’s and Real Estate Investment Trusts spanning 24 international stock exchanges

Brokerage firm Kotak Securities today tied up with Denmark-based Saxo Capital Markets to launch a trading platform that provides real-time access to equities across 24 stock exchanges.
Kotak Trader provides direct access to equities, ETF’s and Real Estate Investment Trusts spanning 24 stock exchanges across the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia, Kotak Securities said in a release.
Kotak Securities Executive Director D Kannan said: “With the growing appetite of Indian investors for overseas investing, we are introducing Kotak Trader which aims to provide the opportunity for the investor to truly diversify their portfolio across geographies, sectors and exchanges.”
Kotak Trader, the global online trading platform provided by Saxo Capital Markets, will provide transparent pricing, real-time streaming news, charting and data analysis system, he said.
What will be the role of Kotak Securities Ltd.?
Kotak Securities Ltd. is an introducing broker to Saxo Capital Markets based at Singapore. Customer will be intorduced by Kotak Securities Ltd. to Saxo capital Markets. The trading facility will be provided by Saxo Capital Markets and not Kotak Secrurities. All dealings like trading, delivery of shares/funds etc. will be done directly with Saxo Capital Markets.
Who can invest in International Equities through Kotak Securities?
This service of investing in International Equities through Kotak Securities is only for individuals. Currently this service is not available for Partnership Firms, HUF, Trusts, NRIs, Corporate, etc.

Trading in International Capital Markets is very simple. You just need to open an account with Saxo Capital Markets through Kotak Securities. You need to fill a different form to trade in international equity, you can either contact your existing relationship manager or fill in your details on the website and our representative will contact you.
What are the documents required to open an account?
It’s simple & minimal paper work is required to open an account for investing in International Equity Markets. You just need to provide the below mentioned documents.
•Identity Proof : A copy of valid ID card (such as passport) containing date and place of birth as well as signature (if place of birth is not stated, a copy of birth certificate/official document showing the tax registration number can be accepted in addition).
•Residential Proof : Proof of residency stating the registered address on the Client Application Form (Any one):
- Valid ID card (such as Voter ID Card or Driving License).
- A bank statement or utility bill issued in the last six months.
How do I fill the account opening form?
The application form is very simple to fill. There are very few pages to be filled. Before filling the form please go through the general business terms & conditions with the form. Please fill in all the details like first name (as printed on your identity proof), last name (as printed on your identity proof), etc. You also need to attach all the required documents mentioned above. Once you complete this you just have to submit the duly filled form with required documents to Kotak Securities Ltd..
Is there any documentation charge?
There is a nominal documentation charge of INR 750/- payable to Kotak Securities Ltd.
What is the minimum amount required to open an account for trading in International Equit Market?
To start trading you have to make initial deposit of US$ 10000/- or INR 500000/- which ever is higher, this initial deposit has to be made within 3 months from the date of account opening.
How long does it take to open an account?
Once you fill the account opening form and submit all the required documents with Kotak Securities, Saxo Capital Markets will complete the due diligence and account opening formalities. Post due diligence it normally takes 4-5 working days to open the account.
What are the notifications or information that I receive after completing the account opening formalities?
After opening an account you will receive an a welcome e-mailer from Saxo Capital Markets that will contain a link to download the Live Kotak Trader along with your account details like Login ID & Password, contact details , fund transfer etc. Further communication via e-mail will provide the details of the Account Executive taking care of your account. All your account related communication will be made to you directly by Saxo Capital Markets.
When can I start trading?
Once the funds are remitted to your account at Saxo Capital Markets you can start placing orders immediately.
How do I remit money?
Once you provide the documents of due diligence and the same are approved by Saxo Capital Markets, you will be informed that the account is ready for funding. On receiving this information you can remit maximum of USD 200,000 annually from any of the authorised banks in India to Saxo Capital Markets, Singapore.
Saxo Capital Markets accepts fund transfer through many major financial institutions around the world. Saxo Capital Markets will only accept funds originating from a bank account held in client’s name. Funds from any third party’s account will be rejected and returned less Intermediary Banks fees. Saxo Capital Markets does not accept Bankers Drafts, Cheques or Cash deposits.
You have to go to bank and fill up A2 Form and Remittance Request Form. Along with that you need a PAN card copy. If the account is less than one year old you need submit the one year tax return certificate. If the account in older than one year, only bank statement copy is required.
Note: Actual requirement may vary from bank to bank, above given details are indicative of the process generally followed.
How can I withdraw money?
To withdraw money you need to fill an online BTR (Bank Transfer Request) form and send the request to Saxo Capital Markets. Once the request is acknowledged, the amount will be credited to your bank account.
How much time does it take to remit/withdraw money?
It will take around 24 to 48 hrs to remit money from your bank account to your account in Saxo Capital Markets.
To withdraw money it will take around 48 to 72 hours from your account in Saxo Capital Markets to your bank account.
How do I know that my funds has been transferred?
As soon as Saxo Capital Markets receives the funds , it will be credited to your trading account. Once the funds are shown in your account you will be receiving an activation email with a download link, User ID & Password.
In what currency can I remit money?
You can remit the money in as many as 13 currencies (Australian Dollar, Swiss Franc, Danish Kroner, Euro, Pounds Sterling, Hong Kong Dollar, Japanese Yen, New Zealand Dollar, Swedish Kroner, Singapore Dollar, Thai Baht, US Dollar). All your transactions will be done in a base currency.
What is a Base Currency?
It is a denomination set for your Kotak Trader account. You can set any of the currency as your base currency. For example, if you set US$ as your Base Currency, then all stock exchanges which accept payments in US$ will automatically get credited or debited from your account.
For exchanges other than the above, say Singapore stock exchange receives and pay outs in Singapore Dollar. So if you trade in Singapore stock exchange, then your Base Currency will automatically gets converted to Singapore Dollar by Saxo Capital Market at prevailing rate to do the transaction.
How do I get delivery of my shares?
When you buy shares it will be reflected in you account immediately. Kotak Trader does not operate on the concept of T+2 or T+3 days.
