John Shanley, Susquehanna Financial Group senior footwear/athletic industry analyst says
Shoe stocks are some of the best buys right now and offer compelling investment opportunities.
Growth factor is in athletic footwear business. Shoe brands are poised to benefit from the back
to school shopping season. And, retailers have the best level of inventory since the late 1990’s.
Shanley rates the following buys:
1. Nike – trading at low p/e multiple, and new merchandise line is well received by consumers
2. VF Corp. -strong brands, including North Face
3. Wolverine – Merrill brand is very powerful
4. Genesco
5. Hibbett
6. Brown Shoe
