Posted on Tuesday, June 17th, 2008 | In Current Market News, Stocks to WatchIn Fortune’s Mid-Year Investor’s Edition, the magazine laid out its Ultimate Mutual Fund Portfolio, and what it considers are the 5 best funds to retire on. Given the difficulties of being a disciplined investor, combined with the complexities of the markets and extreme volatility, maybe it is best to leave it up to seasoned managers, according to Fortune. These managers look beyond the short-term and dig for values that will work over time.
1. Fidelity Spartan- low cost way to own the U.S market (3,400 holdings)
2. Dreyfus Appreciation – blue chips, multi-national firms, minimal turnover
3. Dodge & Cox International Stock- large companies, low turnover, 25% annualized return over 5 years
4. Royce Pennsylvania Mutual- diversification and growth, small caps, 12% annualized return over 15 years
5. Pimco All-Asset – stocks, bonds, real estate, commodities, and more. 25% in emerging markets.
