Fisher Communications Inc. (FSCI) management believes they make a difference in communities by connecting people through quality local news and information. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Fischer is a communications company in the Broadcasting-TV industry. They trade on NASDAQ and pride themselves on being innovative in all the divisions they operate.
Their focus is to instill in their employees a commitment to journalism excellence. Their broadcasting journalism content transmits through the 13 full-power and 8 low-power TV stations they own or manage. They also have eight radio stations in their fold. All of these stations operate in the Pacific Northwest.
Fisher Communications was incorporated in 1910. They started out with a flour milling operation in the Pacific Northwest. Soon they were investing in a variety of other businesses in the region. In 1926, their KOMO radio station transmitted its first broadcast. It wasn’t long before the company added more TV and radio stations to their operations. They took their business to a new level after that by investing in real estate and by providing property management services.
Fisher Communications Inc. has three divisions. Fisher Pathways is a satellite and fiber transmission provider. Fisher Plaza is a media, telecommunications, and data center facility near downtown Seattle. Pegasus News is an online start-up and hyper-local media operation based out of Dallas, Texas.
Fisher continues to get the word out in the form of news and information to the communities they serve. They are committed to expanding employment opportunities for minorities through their scholarships for students interested in broadcasting, journalism or marketing. These are facilitated through the Fisher Broadcasting Company Scholarship for Minorities and the KATU/Thomas R. Dargan Minority Scholarship. Fisher Communications Inc. hopes to continue to provide value to their shareholders, local communities, and students for many years.
