Richard Shaw presents a good idea and one that I have included in ethical workshops I have run over the past few years in Canada. For many socially responsible investors with limited funds though, a mutual fund is the only way to really participate. To have a good diversified socially responsible investment portfolio does require six figures.

I believe that if everyone invests according to their personal values, then, since so many of core values are alike -- and are supportive of higher ideals -- that in the long run, only companies employing these higher values will truly prosper.

For interested readers, I've been following socially responsible investing for about forty years and have a website that covers the latest global news and research on the subject. It's at http://investingforthesoul.com/

Best wishes, Ron Robins

Dear Mr Shaw, Your article last September "Equity Reits Significantly Overalued" was great. Do you think it is a good time to buy reits now?
